Good Morning Let's Make Today Happen

Good Morning Intentions, reflections, book reports and efficiency.

My 15 Minute Getting Things Done Theory

No one has all day to do things even if you are retired. But we all have 15 here and there. Everyone has 15 min to spare somewhere in their day.

I am actually a very organized person. But there is so much I want to do and so little time. And I want to make the most of my time and life. I have lists of lists. First thing I do is instead of sitting thinking about it in misery…because it isn’t going to get done that way, is to just start. Just start. I was at a point in my life that we were empty nesters not yet retired. But I could see all the things I wanted to do: exercise, read to learn, read for fun, learn the piano, write books for children, pray more, start doing my art again…And then there are the things that needed to get done. My emails were huge. Project list was growing. Instead of looking at all these huge goals, wants and needs. I broke them down. What needs to be done first?

Take an hour and break into four 15 minute sections. Pick four different activities: draw, piano, read book, read through emails.

I took an hour after work and broke it down into four 15 minute sections. For 15 min I read through emails and dealt with it and deleted. For 15 min I played the piano. For 15 min I read a book to learn. For 15 minutes I read a book for enjoyment. Later that evening I spent 15 min to clean the kitchen. I continued this for a week. BAM! My email list was down to the current events. My piano playing improved little by little. I have two books halfway read.

On lunch break I have 30 mins. I started to eat my lunch and read a book for 15 min. Then took a walk for 15 min. Or eat while working then take a 30 min walk.
