Why am I starting this, Blog? A few reasons:
- Mental Health: I need an outlet. I have not been the type of person to journal before but now it feels good to get it out on paper.
- Maybe to be listened to (back to this later).
- Catalog
- So, we don’t forget.
- I feel so many people have forgotten how awful it was like under Trump before and/or did not recognize what it was because it was normalized.
- Display facts.
- Teach and Learn
To start with I will have four categories. I have thoughts for more down the road.
- “This is NOT OK.” I am very upset, sad and fearful about the election results. I will research data from the past and follow the future development of the country under this presidency.
- “Good Morning.” I started texting the young adults in my family during COVID. I could see them struggling and I thought, “everyone needs to hear they are loved” and added a message. Message might be a quote, joke or prayer. I cannot promise to post everyday but will try.
- Make It Happen: I love to make things happen and problem solve.
- Book Reports: I love to read. I believe authors write to draw out our feelings and reactions. I would like to share some books and my reflections.
Feelings after Tues Nov 5:
I was up all night watching the election with great anxiety. I feel a great darkness over this world like we did during COVID. I am so sad and fearful for my children, their spouses, grandchildren, other family members, friends and this country. Because the effects of Trump are not going to be just for four years. His actions have already been long lasting since his first presidency. I fear his 2nd term will have even more devastating and irrevocable effects. This blog is my way of removing the darkness as best as I can as one person.
About Me:
- I am a wife, mother of three plus a German foreign exchange mom, grandmother of 6, daughter, sister, aunt, dog mom
- Religion- Catholic with strong faith.
- I am an RN primarily working in the Surgical Field
- I was a Naval Hospital Corpsman in the US Naval Reserves and activated for Desert Storm.
- Interests: spending time with family and friends, walking, reading, art, kayaking, games, wine and adventure.
- Listen-I am the person when in a conversation with someone that person will turn and acknowledge and start a conversation with someone else. While talking the person nods or “a ha’s” at the wrong time. I have noticed in my leadership roles and even with my family whether it is giving direction and instructions; sharing knowledge or expertise; telling a story I am not heard.
- Note: I am not very techy. I do not like social media therefore not on any social platforms (except this blog). I don’t conside myself a “writer” and I am terrible at spelng. LOL. Creating this blog is very new, exciting but scary. I am open to other’s opinions, criticisms, thoughts and advice but please be constructive, apply substance, honest, and most important be kind and respectful.
